As one of the biggest RV suppliers nationally, Campers Inn has over 30 locations in over 15 states. And as travel experts, we understand that every state has its own unique landscape. From the natural springs of Florida to the mountain lakes of our home state, New Hampshire, there’s something to love in each state. So, we thought why not plan out a trip to visit each state along the East coast? Our trip begins at our corporate headquarters in Jacksonville, FL, and goes all the way up to one of our very first dealership in Merrimack, NH. Or if you’re a Northerner, you can go down the coast just as easily. Either way, this trip allows you to see some of the best national parks in each state along the coast, and in case of emergency, you’re never more than 2.5 hours from the friendly faces at a Campers Inn service center.
Ginnie Springs - 1 hr, 30 mins from Jacksonville, FL
Just like the rest of the state, these beautiful Florida springs stay warm year-round. At 72 degrees, they offer swimming, tubing, canoeing, paddle boarding, and sports equipment for rent. In addition to that, snorkeling and diving materials are available for certified divers to explore the cave systems at the head of the springs. Under the clear water, visitors can see local wildlife and even fossils! There are no sewer hookups in this campground, but dump stations are available for RV campers. A cool aspect of this property is that it’s privately owned, so alcohol is allowed, unlike most state-owned parks. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in the campground, but pets are welcome to explore the property on a leash.
Vogel State Park - 1 hr, 50 mins from Tucker, GA
This beautiful state park is located inside the large Chattahoochee National Forest. It offers hiking trails, swimming, fishing, non-motorized boating, and mini golf, and there are also many geocaches hidden throughout the park for visitors to find. In addition to the activities, the park is also home to multiple beautiful sights, like the vibrant fall foliage, the seasonal sandy beach, and the Trahlyta Falls waterfall. Alcohol is banned in these campgrounds, but pets are allowed, so feel free to bring your furry friend along on the adventure!
Lake Wateree - 2 hrs, 22 mins from Conway, SC
The beautiful Lake Wateree is South Carolina’s fishing wonderland! If you enjoy fishing, you’ll love catching bass, catfish, bream, and crappies in this picturesque lake. If fishing isn’t your style, the property also offers boating and hiking. The campground is beautiful and well-maintained, and it allows pets, but does not allow alcohol. Just make sure to reserve your spot during a time when the state fishing contest isn’t in session, or the park will be a little more crowded than you might like.
Hanging Rock State Park - 1 hr, 11 mins from Mocksville, NC
North Carolina is a beautiful state, but this has got to be one of the most beautiful places in it. Swimming, boating, hiking, horseback riding, biking, paddle boarding, and rock climbing are just some of the activities you can indulge in within the limits of this huge park. In addition to the activities, you can see some incredible sights here, from mountain views to waterfalls, and even to the insides of a natural cave! Alcohol is prohibited yet again, but pets are allowed on a six-foot leash.
Misty Mountain Camping Resort - 1 hr, 45 mins from Fredericksburg, VA
This is one of two camping resorts we’ve included in our trip itinerary! If you need a place to rest and recuperate after all of that fun, Misty Mountain is the perfect place. It has rave reviews from dozens of RVers, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy the moderate weather of Virginia. If you’re not quite done getting active, the resort has planned activities like water games, karaoke, live music and food trucks, and pool parties. If you’d rather set out on your own, you can head to the fishing pond, while your kids (or you!) head to the jump pad, which is like a huge trampoline. Near the property, there are lots of wineries and breweries, hiking trails, and museums. Alcohol is permitted here in addition to pets.
Ridley Creek State Park - 43 mins from Philadelphia, PA
This beautiful park is only 16 miles from Philadelphia, making it easy for you to take a day trip into the city if there’s anything you need to grab or anything you want to see. But if you’re looking to spend a little more time in nature, this is a great place to do it! This park isn’t very mountainous, so it’s easier to explore than more hilly terrain, and it offers biking, hiking, hunting, waterfalls, fishing, and horseback riding. Additionally, during winter months, winter recreation like snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and sledding is available. Unfortunately, no pets are allowed in the campground, and alcohol is also prohibited.
Panther Lake Camping Resort - 1 hr, 55 mins from Toms River, NJ
We’ve arrived at our second camping resort! Take a break from all the nature activities by visiting nearby museums, wineries, and breweries, or by checking out the live music and carnivals offered at the campground. But if you’re still hoping to get out in nature, you can enjoy the swimming, boating, and fishing available on the property or the horseback riding, hiking, boating, mountain biking, and live animal shows in nearby state parks. Pets and alcohol are both allowed at the resort.
Macedonia Brook State Park - 1 hr, 58 mins from Union, CT
This may seem like a regular state park during some parts of the year, but during the spring and fall it becomes one of the most beautiful sights you can imagine. The creeks and mountain views will showcase the incredible foliage that makes Macedonia Brook so special. From the tops of the mountains in the park, you can look out and see the landscape of the northeast if you’re willing to hike to get there, and you can fish if hiking isn’t your style. Pets and alcohol are prohibited in the park.
Wompatuck State Park - 48 mins from Raynham, MA
This park has everything, from cross country skiing to boating. Hiking and geocaching are also available, and the mountain biking trails are some of the best in the country. Additionally, this is the closest stop on our trip to the ocean, so you can take a day trip to the beautiful Nantasket beach. If you’re up for another day trip, you can even head to downtown Boston in only 35 minutes! Alcohol is banned, but pets are allowed in this park’s campground, so if you have your dog or cat, you can take them to enjoy all that the park has to offer.
Monadnock State Park - 1 hr, 18 mins from Merrimack, NH
There’s a reason why this park has been featured in the writings of both Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau—it’s literally one of the most beautiful parks we’ve ever visited. It has beautiful foliage, in addition to a large lake and historic rock formations like the one pictured above. These formations are remnants from when the land was used for farming, and they were used to keep livestock in certain areas. Pets and alcohol are both banned, but activities like hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing can help you explore all the land this park has to offer.
If you’re planning on taking a big trip from one end of the East coast to the other, we at Campers Inn hope that we can be of service! But even if you’d just like to explore some of your state’s most exciting natural resources, you should definitely check in with the friendly faces at your local RV dealership so we can give you some tips. After all, camping is what we do!
