4 Tips for Navigating America’s Largest RV Show
Pace yourself
There will be over 1,300 RVs covering three football-sized fields and a full stadium of vendors to explore. That is a lot of walking. With a show of this magnitude, you have the potential to burn yourself out before you get a quarter of the way through. Here’s how to keep up your excitement for the greatest RV show on earth before your visit is over:
- Opt for the show pass: There is a ton to see and do, and you won’t get it done in a day. The five-day pass is only $30, so it won’t break the bank and your feet will thank you.
- Bring your RV to the show: There are not a lot of places to rest and relax on site, except in an RV. The parking lot is huge (and free), so you can take a lunch break or a nap to regain your strength in between exploring.
Arrive Early
Arriving early is crucial for this show. Don’t be tardy for this party. A few perks for arriving early include:
- Shorter lines: Missing the long lines is key to getting more accomplished throughout the day. With over 57,000 people attending, these lines are brutal. Also, FYI, handicap parking is available closer to the lot as well with its own entrance.
- Hitching a ride: With over three football fields to walk and a stadium to explore, your dogs will be barking before the first day is over. The show does provide golf cart taxis to lug you around the grounds and to and from the parking lot. They also have motorized scooters and wheelchairs available and allow attendees to bring their own into the show. Availability of these items are limited, so be sure to arrive early to take advantage of these transportation hacks.
- Maps: With so many people attending the show, maps can be short in supply. If you run into a map shortage, you can visit Camper Inn RV booths, and we have extra maps if you misplace yours.
Plan ahead
Have an idea of who you are going to see and how you are going to accomplish it. Also, know what you can do, so you don’t have any unexpected hang ups when trying to arrive early:
- Pets: Unfortunately pets aren’t allowed to attend the show. But don’t let it ruin your fun, as the Hershey show has made a pretty sweet deal for your furry travel pal. Hersheypark and The Dad’s Pet Care Barking Lot (located just out of the park on the west end of the stadium) will take care of your pet for a small fee of $10 per day! They’ll be relaxing in the cool September air while you navigate miles of RVs and RV accessories.
- Water: With so many people, it’s hard to keep water in supply. Make sure you make this a priority and bring plenty of H2O with you on the grounds.
- Have an idea of what you want: Know what the right recreational vehicle is for you before you get there, and it will help you narrow your search when on site. Take our quiz below to help you figure out which motorhome is right for you.
Have fun
Most importantly, you are here to have fun! You are in a community of likeminded people who all share the same passion. Take advantage of this by building friendships, meeting new people and catching up with old friends to create connections across the U.S.
