Vibrant foliage, warm campfires and cool temperatures all make fall a special time of the year to go camping. If I haven’t convinced you to start organizing a few fall RV adventures just yet, keep reading…it gets even better.
The fall season holds many glorious secrets that you may not have discovered before. For example: less crowded campgrounds, cheaper campground rates, the best hiking conditions, and the perfect time of year to feel the true warmth of a campfire. Since most campers haven’t figured out how awesome fall-time RV adventures can be, campgrounds are a lot more vacant. Imagine serene nights with family and friends sitting by the campfire at a campsite with no one around. As a matter of fact, with peak season coming to an end, you can expect campground rates to become much cheaper. Keep in mind that some campgrounds stop taking reservations, so campsites are first come first serve. Just to be safe, I would recommend calling the campgrounds ahead of time to make sure they are still open for the season. Cool fall weather
Nothing beats the drop in temperatures during the initial stages of fall. Sometimes summer days can get so hot, it takes the fun out of being outside and indulging in fun activities during the day. In the fall, temperatures are typically perfect for activities from morning till evening. Leaf peeping and hiking are two of the finest fall-time camping activities! I recommend planning your RV adventures at the end of the September through the middle of October for pristine camping conditions. Camping during this time span will avoid the trouble of worrying about your RV’s water system freezing up. Furthermore, make sure you bring proper fall time attire like sweatshirts and blankets (sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it?).
Tip: Avoid the worry of your water system freezing by purchasing a heated fresh water hose, a small space heater for your water pump and electric pipe heaters for your holding tanks.
