Ten Tips for Shopping at the Hershey RV Show

Written by Derek Cunningham | August 09, 2018

The Hershey RV Show in Hershey, Penn., is the largest RV show in the country. Every year, dozens of dealers bring over 1,300 motorhomes and towable RVs to the Giant Center Arena. The show runs from September 12 to 16, 2018.

The show is one of the best times to find rock-bottom deals on the industry’s top brands. To help have the best experience possible, we put together 10 tips for shopping at the show. Need information on tickets, hours, campgrounds and more? Download our free Hershey RV Guide today!

1) Buy your tickets online:

The Hershey RV Show offers discounts for tickets purchased online. You’ll save $2 for a single ticket and $5 for a three-day Event Pass, plus you won’t have to wait in line at the ticket booth when you arrive.

2) Plan your itinerary:

The Hershey RV show is huge: over 1,300 RVs cover 33 football fields of space. Before you go, you should learn which brands you’d like to see the most and use a show map to plot out your route (see map included in this guide).

3) Opt for the Event Pass:

There is a ton to see and do, and you won’t get it done in a day. The three-day Event Pass is only $30, so it won’t break the bank and your feet will thank you.

4) Bring your RV to the show:

The show grounds do not offer many places to rest and relax, except in an RV. The parking lot is huge (and free), so you can take a lunch break or a nap to regain your strength between exploring.

5) Arrive early:

The lines at the show can get quite long with over 57,000 people in attendance. If you arrive early, you have a better chance of beating the rush and accomplishing more throughout the day.

6) Hitching a ride:

The show offers golf cart taxis to bring you to and from the parking lot, as well as around the grounds. It also has a limited number of motorized scooters and wheelchairs available.

7) Stay hydrated:

Having water handy is a must, but with so many people, getting it can be tricky. Make sure you bring your own to stay hydrated throughout the day.

8) Enjoy a seminar:

The show features many seminars, including “Choosing an RV,” “RV Insurance 101,” and “Top 10 Maintenance Tips Every RVer Should Know”. The seminars are a great way to take a break, relax and learn more about the RV lifestyle.

9) Keep your smartphone handy:

At an RV show, your smartphone will be your best friend. You can snap photos of RVs, spec sheets, stock numbers, business cards and more for easy reference. You can use QR codes to look up RVs online and set alarms to keep you on schedule. Of course, your phone will also be essential for keeping in touch with your family or group during the day.

10) Comparison shop:

This show is one of the best times to browse a wide variety of makes and models side-by-side, as well as speak to dealers from around the country. Make the most of your time by exploring all your options.
