How to Make a Family Scrapbook of Your Summer RV Adventures

Written by Derek Cunningham | January 05, 2018

Winter is settling in for many RV families. That means long days cooped up inside and many months before RV season comes again.

If you are looking to kick the winter blues, consider making a scrapbook with your family about your summer RV adventures! It’s a great activity for a cold afternoon, and your kids will love revisiting their favorite memories of summer.

Check out the steps below for ideas and get scrapbooking!

  • Start by asking your family to make a list of all your summer RV destinations. Have each person write down three to five favorite memories for each place. If you only camped in one location, write down a favorite memory for each day you were there.
  • Write three nouns that best describe each location and memory, i.e. “beach, butterflies, ice cream.”
  • Collect all of the paper materials you still have from your trips, including maps, parking tags, brochures, receipts, etc.
  • Look through your phone or camera to find the best picture to represent each location and/or memory. Print out two copies of each photo.
  • Head to your local craft store with your list of memories in hand. You will need:
    • Construction paper for each memory
    • Book rings to use as binding
    • Hole punch for rings
    • Scissors
    • Glue
    • Glitter
    • Stickers and stencils that match your memories
    • Crayons and markers
  • Organize your photos and paper materials by the memories on your list.
  • Create one page for each memory: glue down photos or a piece of print material in the center. Add stickers, drawings and glitter to the rest of the page. If you don’t have a photo, draw one! Use your creativity to make each page special and memorable. Make sure to include stickers, pictures or drawings representing the nouns you used to describe your memories.
  • On the back of each page, describe the memory you are showing on the page and why it is special to you.
  • For the cover, make a collage out of the second copy of the photos you printed out. Make sure you add a title! You can write it out with markers or even cut the letters out of your construction paper and glue them down.
  • Once all of your pages are complete, punch three holes in them and bind together with your rings.
  • Share your creation with family and friends!
