Pre-Trip Checklist for Motorhome Owners

When you are getting ready to head out on a motorhome trip, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement and forget to check your rig thoroughly. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back! We’ve put together a pre-trip checklist so you can be sure you didn’t miss anything before leaving.

Safe travels!

  • Tires are in good condition and at the correct pressure
  • Headlights and rear-lights are functioning
  • Exterior storage compartments are closed and locked
  • Slides and awnings are retracted
  • Everything for the trip is packed
  • Wheel chocks are removed
  • Exterior doors are closed and locked
  • Windows closed
  • Waste and trash is properly disposed of
  • Roof is clear of any debris
  • Tow vehicle (if available) is properly connected
  • All loose items inside RV are packed, secured and stowed, and weight is distributed properly
  • Fold-down furniture is in proper state for travel
  • Appliances turned off
  • Electrical items unplugged
  • Faucets, sinks and showers turned off
  • Gas/diesel full
  • All external connections are removed and stored, including shore power, fresh water hose and sewer hose. 
  • TV antenna is secured
  • Cell phone stored or connected to voice-operated system
  • Route loaded into GPS
  • All seat belts secured
