The company was originally founded by Don Clark, Ron Fenech and Bill Fenech. After being a part of a leadership team of one of the biggest travel trailer and fifth wheel manufacturers in the world, they decided to try making towable RVs on their own. In 2012, they launched Grand Design RV, a company focused on personal connection with everyone from customers to employees to dealers. This focus on their part led to large growth quickly and several awards, such as five consecutive RVDA (Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association) Quality Circle Award. They focus heavily on the construction of their RVs, and some of the features include: wood truss framed roofs, TPO roof covering, fully enclosed underbelly, heavy duty tires and ductless flooring.
The Grand Design Imagine 2800BH is a spacious, yet lightweight travel trailer. A travel trailer is an RV that you attach to your vehicle by a trailer hitch. With this kind of unit, you have the option to disconnect it from your vehicle once you are parked. They are one of the most cost-effective RVs if you are looking for a basic mobile living space. The 2800BH has a length of 32-feet and a height of 11-feet, 1-inch, a hitch weight of 604 pounds and a dry weight of only 6,238 pounds. This RV has over-sized tanks with capacities of 52 gallons for fresh water, 45 gallons for black water and 82 gallons for grey water.
This unit can sleep up to eight people with its 60 x 80-inch queen bed, trifold sofa and double-over-double bunk. Up front there is a master suite which contains the walk around queen bed with a beautiful residential bedspread, a matching headboard and two nightstands. The bedroom also has an exterior entrance and a slideout door that closes the room off from the rest of the RV. The bathroom is across from the bedroom, next to the bunks and includes a 30 x 36-inch shower, a sink with an extended countertop, a skylight along and a linen closet.
The roomy common area features the previously mentioned trifold sofa, a large panoramic window, an entertainment center and a 32-inch LED TV on a swing arm along with TV and cable/SAT prep. In the kitchen, there is a U-shaped dinette with a removable ottoman, another large panoramic window, residential countertops, a double-door refrigerator, a pantry, a stainless-steel microwave and three-burner cooktop with an oven. There is even a food and water bowl drawer under the refrigerator for your animal friends.
When traveling, especially with many people, storage is a must have. That is no problem with this RV, which has a shoe storage by the common area door, bike storage, three over-head cabinet areas, an oversized underbed storage, pass-through storage and kitchen/common area cabinets and drawers with solid hardwood fronts.
On the outside there are two aluminum step entrances, liquid-propane quick connect, and a 1.6 cubic foot refer. The 2800BH is great for entertainment with an outdoor kitchen, speakers, 19-inch awning, LED awning lights and a Coax TV hookup.
