Best Half-Ton 5th Wheels

Written by Stephanie Sawyer | July 13, 2021

5th wheel trailers are popular because they offer plenty of interior space, comfort and amenities similar to a large motorhome, but, as they are a towable version of an RV, they can easily be unhitched from the tow truck to allow easy exploration and trips into town for supplies for campers, without having to take down the campsite.

However, many campers often do not have a truck with a very high tow rating, so they can’t tow a large RV. Half-ton 5th wheels were introduced in order to make 5th wheels more accessible for campers with a truck that has a lower tow rating.

Other benefits of 5th wheel RVs include a stable tow hitch by connecting to the bed of the truck, multi-level floor plans, more living space and storage space.

What is a Half-Ton 5th Wheel?

A half-ton 5th wheel is a 5th wheel that can be towed by a half-ton truck. It is important to know your truck's towing capabilities before shopping for an RV. A half-ton truck can tow around 9,000 – 10,000 pounds, so most half-ton 5th wheels generally fit that weight range.

In this blog, we discuss the four best half-ton 5th wheel RVs.
