All About Grand Design RV

Written by Stephanie Sawyer | August 13, 2019

Grand Design RV was founded in 2012 by Don Clark, Ron and Bill Fenech. They focused on building travel trailers, fifth wheels and towable toy haulers and making personal connections with their customers, employees and dealers, which has helped the company successfully grow. Since 2012, Grand Design has won several industry awards, including Recreational Vehicle Dealer’s Association’s (RVDA) Quality Circle award from 2013-2018.

Grand Design builds travel trailer brands Transcend, Imagine and Reflection; Fifth wheel brands Reflection and Solitude; and the toy hauler brand Momentum. In February of 2018, they reached a milestone when they manufactured their 50,000th unit. Grand Design RV has had years of growth for their company by following their own business model, “do the right thing.”

Construction and Details

Grand Design uses laminated aluminum framed construction on the side, rear walls and the roof of every slide room. The roof has a wood truss frame, which provides a full walk-on roof and better insulation, so you stay comfortable. There is also a no-streak thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof covering with a 12-year warranty.

Racetrack ducting is also used in the construction for efficient cooling. It allows uninterrupted airflow from the back to the front of the RV – this is available in the Reflection, Momentum and Solitude models. They also have ductless flooring, which helps prevent the trapping of dirt, dust and debris. Grand Design’s ducts are in the base of the cabinets.

All Grand Design RVs have pass-through storage bays that were designed with storage in mind. The plumbing and electrical wiring are installed around the storage space to provide maximum storage capabilities. They also have fully enclosed and insulated underbellies for protection from the elements during different times of the year.

Each towable also features heavy-duty tires that are backed by a five-year warranty and aluminum entry steps to prevent rusting or binding.
