3 Reasons Why RVing Will Make Your Golden Years Even More Magical

Written by Derek Cunningham | May 18, 2018

You’ve worked hard. You put in long hours. You shepherded your children to adulthood. Now, you’ve reached retirement age, and you are ready to kick back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

But, while retirement can feel freeing, some people are daunted by all of the open-ended time before them: Just what am I going to do with myself?

If you are looking to fill your days with adventure and rewarding experiences, we created a list of 3 reasons why RVing might be the perfect hobby for you.

1) Chip away at that bucket list

For many of us, real vacations come few and far between when we are working and raising a family. Travel is expensive, vacation days are limited and scheduling time between jobs, school and extracircular activities can be a headache.

Maybe you were able to make a trip to Disney World or spend one week each year at your favorite lake up north. But, you’ve always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon. You’ve dreamed of spying grizzlies in Yellowstone and sipping colorful beverages on the Florida Keys.

Now that you are retired, you finally have the opportunity to explore the country. RVs are an affordable and convenient way to have incredible journeys across the nation. You can take your time, follow your own schedule and venture wherever your heart desires. Even better, you’ll always have your own personal space to sleep in at the end of the day.

2) Reconnect with your partner

Think back to when you and your spouse first started dating. Do you remember those carefree days flirting while out on the town? Remember the long nights savoring a slow dinner at your favorite restaurant?

An RV will help you recapture that magic and make you feel like you are 23 years old again. When you travel, it will just be the two of you, without the kids complaining about bathroom breaks or fighting over the radio.

You will have the chance to bond, share in-jokes and enjoy brand new experiences. Retirement is the beginning of an exciting phase of your life, and it’s the perfect time to make new memories with the person who has always been by your side.

3) Make new friends in the RV community

Friendships can be hard to maintain during your working days. The pack of kids you roamed with in high school and college all grew up, started families and went their separate ways. New people you meet are often co-workers or the parents of our children’s friends, and they may not share your interests.

When you become an RVer, you will be immediately included in a thriving community that spans the country. When you show up at a campground or National Park, you know you will meet people who love the outdoors and adventure as much as you. Many organizations, like the FMCA, also host rallies every year, where you can gather with fellow RVers and share tips and tricks and tales from the road.

Whether you embark on RVing full time or just for weekends and special trips, joining the lifestyle will open up unlimited opportunities to make your golden years magical.
