Geography
North Carolina is split into four major geographical areas:
The Outer Coastal Plain, the Inner Coastal Plain, Piedmont (aka Heartland), and the Blue Ridge/Mountain area. Some of the best RVing spots, in our opinion, lie along the Inner and Outer Coastal Plains with many options for camping such as beach docking, wetlands, the Crystal Coast, The Outer Banks, historic and tourism sights, and so much more. The Blue Ridge Mountain area is also a wonderful area for RVing in North Carolina because it is dense in National Park and forest area, and of course because of the beautiful mountainous backdrops of the Appalacians, the Great Smokies, Blue Ridge, and more. RVing in these areas saves you some cash as well. Most parks and forests have special discounts and passes for children, military families, and senior citizens.
