RV adventures conjure up mental images of roaring campfires and summer journeys through majestic national parks. Yet, RVers know their favorite homes-away-from-home can be used for so much more than that. The Great Outdoors is open all year, and the changing seasons just mean there’s always new activities to enjoy.
For skiers, an RV can be an economical way to stay by the slopes at resorts that accommodate them. The parks can also connect RVers with a community of like-minded enthusiasts. We have selected three resorts where you can enjoy your après-ski from the comfort of your own camper.
Gunstock Mountain Resort
Gunstock Mountain is a family-oriented ski resort in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, and it is an accessible 90 minute-trip from Boston. The resort offers 55 ski and snowboard trails with many geared towards intermediate and beginner skiers. From the summit, skiers are rewarded with amazing views of Lake Winnipesaukee—New Hampshire’s largest lake—and the White Mountain peaks up north. The resort also offers robust lesson packages for children, as well as 50km of cross-country and snowshoe trails, tubing, and more.
The resort is one of the most RV-friendly in New England, and it features dedicated winter RV sites and heated bathhouses with free hot showers. Sites start at $44 (midweek)/$47 (weekend), and discounted lift tickets are available for campers.
Tiger Run Resort
Tiger Run Resort is an RV park nestled in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. It is a four-season park open to winter campers. Sites feature water, sewer, and electric hook-ups, as well as cable and free wi-fi service so you can stay connected on your trip. The resort excludes RVs under 20 ft, as well as pop-ups, tent trailers, and truck campers. Winter rates (not including holiday season) start at $85 for a standard site.
The resort offers free bus service to two nearby ski mountains: Breckenridge and Keystone. Breckenridge operates five peaks and a total of 187 trails. Each peak features something unique, including expert terrain, beginner learning areas or intermediate trails with stunning views. Keystone Resort offers family-friendly beginner and intermediate trails across three peaks, as well as expert tree skiing and CAT skiing areas.

Crystal Mountain Resort
Two hours from Seattle, Crystal Mountain in Washington State is the largest ski resort in the state, and features a variety of terrain across six peaks for skiers of all levels. The resort is part of the Cascade Range, and it offers spectacular views of Mount Rainier, including on a scenic gondola line available to skiers and non-skiers alike. Visitors can also take guided snowshoe tours and enjoy several dining options, including the Summit House high up on the mountain side.
Crystal Mountain has a vibrant RV community that has gathered for years in “B-Lot”. In a recent blog post, Crystal Mountain relates stories from families who spent their winters growing up in this unique environment. RV sites are first-come, first-serve and sites in B-lot feature electrical hook-ups (overflow sites do not). Sites with electricity cost $35 per night.
